The concept of social pharmacy
The 13th International Social Pharmacy Workshop will be held in Malta in July 2004. The Social Pharmacy Workshops are international conferences for research in social and behavioural pharmacy. Meetings are held every second year and participation has grown steadily since the first Workshop was held in Helsinki, Finland, in 1980. Following the successful 2002 conference in Sydney, Australia, the 2004 meeting in Malta will be the first one held in the Mediterranean area!peer-reviewe

They taught boys and girls somewhat different lessons and attempted to persuade students to completely give themselves to the Reich; mind, body, and soul. All of the changes in the educational system were constructed to promote the Nazi party and help it prosper
Local Runup Amplification By Resonant Wave Interactions
Until now the analysis of long wave runup on a plane beach has been focused
on finding its maximum value, failing to capture the existence of resonant
regimes. One-dimensional numerical simulations in the framework of the
Nonlinear Shallow Water Equations (NSWE) are used to investigate the Boundary
Value Problem (BVP) for plane and non-trivial beaches. Monochromatic waves, as
well as virtual wave-gage recordings from real tsunami simulations, are used as
forcing conditions to the BVP. Resonant phenomena between the incident
wavelength and the beach slope are found to occur, which result in enhanced
runup of non-leading waves. The evolution of energy reveals the existence of a
quasi-periodic state for the case of sinusoidal waves, the energy level of
which, as well as the time required to reach that state, depend on the incident
wavelength for a given beach slope. Dispersion is found to slightly reduce the
value of maximum runup, but not to change the overall picture. Runup

Core excitation in Ozone localized to one of two symmetry-equivalent chemical bonds - molecular alignment through vibronic coupling
Core excitation from terminal oxygen O in O is shown to be an
excitation from a localized core orbital to a localized valence orbital. The
valence orbital is localized to one of the two equivalent chemical bonds. We
experimentally demonstrate this with the Auger Doppler effect which is
observable when O is core-excited to the highly dissociative
O1s7a state. Auger electrons emitted from the atomic oxygen
fragment carry information about the molecular orientation relative to the
electromagnetic field vector at the moment of excitation. The data together
with analytical functions for the electron-peak profiles give clear evidence
that the preferred molecular orientation for excitation only depends on the
orientation of one bond, not on the total molecular orientation. The
localization of the valence orbital "7a" is caused by mixing of the valence
orbital "5b" through vibronic coupling of anti-symmetric stretching mode
with b-symmetry. To the best of our knowledge, it is the first discussion
of the localization of a core excitation of O. This result explains the
success of the widely used assumption of localized core excitation in
adsorbates and large molecules
Different quantization mechanisms in single-electron pumps driven by surface acoustic waves
We have studied the acoustoelectric current in single-electron pumps driven
by surface acoustic waves. We have found that in certain parameter ranges two
different sets of quantized steps dominate the acoustoelectric current versus
gate-voltage characteristics. In some cases, both types of quantized steps
appear simultaneously though at different current values, as if they were
superposed on each other. This could indicate two independent quantization
mechanisms for the acoustoelectric current.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figure
